Why Are We Building the Best Place for Kids™?

As the 13th largest city in the country and one of the fastest-growing large cities, Fort Worth is attracting new, young residents and experiencing rapid economic growth. In addition, a recent study shows that Fort Worth has the 2nd highest percentage of families with children in the United States.

In order to support the success of these families and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive, The Best Place for Kids™ is championed by Mayor Betsy Price and established by a varied group of representatives ranging from the City of Fort Worth, philanthropic foundations, nonprofits, business leaders, and experts in early education. This team has launched a whole-community approach to education and economic development — connecting students and families to quality educational opportunities and community resources, lifting up innovation across the education continuum, and initiating the first-of-its-kind Best Place For Working Parents™ online self-assessment and innovator awards around family-friendly policies.
