The Miles Foundation Named “Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation” at National Philanthropy Day 2016

FORT WORTH – November 8, 2016 – The Association of Fundraising Professionals Fort Worth Metro Chapter will honor The Miles Foundation as “Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation” at its National Philanthropy Day luncheon on Thursday, November 17, 2016.

The Miles Foundation was nominated for this year’s award by Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail (JA), a grantee partner of the Foundation since 2006.  JA cited The Miles Foundation’s innovative use of grantmaking technology, hands-on volunteer efforts, and collaborative approach to philanthropy as key reasons for the nomination.

JA also noted The Miles Foundation’s commitment to deepening its knowledge across funding areas through its involvement in national philanthropic groups like Philanthropy Southwest and Philanthropy Roundtable. Locally, The Miles Foundation is actively involved in collaborations including the Fort Worth Education Funders’ Roundtable, the Mayor’s Education Advisory Committee, The Morningside Parent Engagement Collaborative, the Early Learning Alliance, and The Raising of Fort Worth.

A significant portion of The Miles Foundation’s involvement with JA has been dedicated to multi-year capacity-building grants. These funds have enabled JA to focus its efforts on critical organizational development areas, such as technology, staff training, strategic planning, marketing, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising.

“The Miles Foundation has always taken an active role in JA’s growth and success, supporting not only our educational programs, but the development of our organization as a whole,” said Randal Mays, President of Junior Achievement of the Chisholm Trail. “We greatly appreciate The Miles Foundation’s personal approach to its grantee relationships, and are thrilled the Foundation is being recognized for its efforts.”

“We’re honored to receive the distinction of ‘Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation’ for Fort Worth,” said Grant Coates, President & CEO of The Miles Foundation. “We consider it a privilege to be able to do this work together with our grantee and community partners, and we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such exceptional organizations dedicated to making a difference.”

The National Philanthropy Day 2016 luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Cendera Center in Fort Worth.  This year’s sponsors include Frost BankTexas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-BedfordM.
